Essential Hungarian Vocabulary: List of the 1000 Most Common Words

To create a list of the 1000 most common Hungarian words, a large corpus of Hungarian language texts was analyzed using our customized software designed for corpus linguistics. The texts in the corpus included news articles and other Hungarian documents covering various topics and genres.

The software used for the analysis identified and counted the frequency of each word in the corpus, taking into account variations in spelling and inflection. The vocabulary words were then ranked in descending order of frequency, with the most common words appearing at the top of the list.

The list is organized and presented in a user-friendly format, with options for filtering the words by part of speech. It provides a comprehensive resource for anyone looking to build their vocabulary in Hungarian. It can be used by language learners, researchers, and others who are interested in the Hungarian language.

As you will see in the list below, the 1000 most common Hungarian words are a mix of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other parts of speech. Some of the most frequently used words in Hungarian include "az" (the), "és" (and), "nem" (not), "egy" (a/an), and "van" (to be).
